    This is a rare souvenir program from the
    Original West End production
    of the ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, JIM STEINMAN, PATRICIA KNOP and GALE EDWARDS musical "WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND" at the Aldwych Theatre in London. (The production opened July 1st, 1998 at London's Aldwych Theatre and ran for 1044 performances.
    The production premiered on December 12th, 1996 at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. but due to mostly negative reviews, the Broadway opening that had been scheduled for April 17th, 1997, was subsequently cancelled.

Side note: The Washington, D.C. production was promoted as a World Premiere engagement even though Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Whistle Down the Wind" had been first produced by the Beauchamp Music Group in Gloucestershire, England in April 1992 and the same month at the First UK Festival of Musicals at Buxton. It was followed by productions at the New Olympus Theatre in Gloucester (October 1992), the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy, Scotland (August 1993), the George Square Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland (August 1993) and
    Sadlers Wells in London (December 1993). The Washington, D.C. production received a revised script with a new book by Patricia Knop, thus the claim of a World Premiere event ..... The margins are slightly deeper than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
