This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the two-week, Summer Stock engagement of the
LEONARD BERNSTEIN, BETTY COMDEN and ADOLPH GREEN musical comedy "WONDERFUL TOWN" at the Chicago Melody Top in Hillside, Illinois beginning July 30th, 1962. (The Original Broadway production opened February 26th, 1953 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and ran for 559 performances.) ..... The musical starred "America's Brightest New Commedienne" PHYLLIS DILLER in her musical theatre debut. (Phyllis Diller replaced PEGGY CASS, who had originally been booked to star as "Ruth Sherwood".) ..... This single page, two-sided handbill measures 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" inches and includes a photo of PHYLLIS DILLER, performance dates and ticket prices on the front and promotional text and a ticket order form on the backside ..... CONDITION: This rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
